‘A Tuneful Christmas Carol’

Rick Plummer, West Shore Community College Director of Cultural Arts and Associate Professor of Theater, has selected the cast for the college’s upcoming production, “A Tuneful Christmas Carol”. The West Shore Community College production will be presented on Dec. 6 and Dec.7 in the Media Center Auditorium. Depicting the famous author is Dave Swanson with Ebenezer Scrooge played by Tyler Swanson, Eric Engblade and Ron Steinberg.


MCC top athletes

Four student athletes at Manistee Catholic Central received Most Valuable Player trophies at Sunday morning’s breakfast. Those honored were: Mark Hogan of the golf team, Janis Krusniak of the girls’ basketball team, Debbie Baribeau of the girls’ tennis team and Paul Miller of the football team.

Juveniles arrested

Two rural Manistee juveniles were arrested by Manistee City Police for shooting a BB gun at a parked car and front window of a home. Both juveniles will be referred to probate court for further action. During four weekends Manistee City Police received five or more reports of broken windows, usually cars, on a given night. In each case, police said, a BB or pellet gun was used to shoot at the window.


Rev. Kemppainen announces resignation

Rev. Rudolph Kemppainen surprised his congregation Sunday morning when he announced he was resigning from the Bethany Lutheran Church in Kaleva. He will preach his final service on February 24 and leave on February 28. He has decided to go to Wakefield. Rev. Kemppainen has served here for three years and has made many friends.
