Elementary girls tourney champs

Trinity Lutheran School won the girls’ elementary basketball tournament recently. Players are the team are: Gretchen Topel, Tricia Lane, Renee McCary, Kim Lloyd, Connie Lindeman, Lori Lindeman, Shelly Niesen and Rosena Lane. The team is coached by David Masengarb.

Board set

Board of Directors members and officers for 1978 were named last night at a meeting of the Manistee County Chamber of Commerce. They are: Pat Kelly (President), Dick Mowry (Vice-President), Joe Oleniczak (Treasurer), Edna Whiting, Jim Wilson, and Ron Steinberg.

Bear Lake Memorial Hospital Auxiliary

The Bear Lake Hospital Auxiliary cordially invites you to attend their bazaar on December 14 The doors will open at 9:30 a.m. at the American Legion Hall, and will remain open in the evening for your convenience. There will be lovely aprons, toys, dolls, doll clothes, decorative pillows, fanciwork and many other items that would make great Christmas gifts.

Mail early

With Christmas but a little more than two weeks away, persons expecting to mail gifts are urged by Postmaster Ed Talbot to mail early so as to avoid delay and disappointments. Parcels and letters intended for Sweden, Germany and Poland should be mailed no later than December 12 in order to catch the last boat leaving New York in time to effect delivery by Christmas.

Priest honored

Honoring the Rev. George LaValle, who is leaving Thursday or Friday for his new assignment at Ossineke, Michigan, members of St. Mary’s Church, following services last evening, gathered in the school hall and presented their pastor with a farewell gift. Father LaValle has served the local pastorate about 13 years.
