Pair arraigned for possession with intent to deliver cocaine

MANISTEE — Two Manistee residents have been arraigned on drug charges recently.

Eddie Lee Scott, 54, of Manistee, was arraigned on Dec. 5 in Manistee County’s 85th District Court for possession with intent to deliver less than 50 grams of cocaine.

Scott posted a bond of $6,000 and has been released from the Manistee County Jail.

Alexis Mary-Jane Burton, 20, of Manistee, was arraigned on the same charge on Nov. 3 in Manistee County’s 85th District Court. At the time of her arraignment, Burton was incarcerated in the Muskegon County Jail on an unrelated case. The charges are felonies punishable by up to 20 years in prison and/or a $25,000 fine.

In September, Manistee City Police officers were dispatched to an address in the 500 block of River Street.

At the scene officers observed items that caused them to contact detectives from SSCENT. After a search warrant was executed at the location, an amount of suspected cocaine was seized.

SSCENT detectives were assisted with their investigation and search warrant by members of the Manistee City Police Department.

SSCENT is a multi-jurisdictional task force that serves Manistee, Mason, Oceana and Lake counties. Anyone who has information about drug activity in their area, should contact SSCENT at (231) 843-7045 or their local police department.
