County recognizes employees, officials for years of service

MANISTEE COUNTY — When the new year approaches, Manistee County officials take time to recognize years of service past.

This week, county/court employees and elected officials with landmark years of service were recognized by the Manistee County Board of Commissioners at its monthly meeting.

Those recognized also received awards, according to their milestone marks, at the county’s annual Employee Recognition Luncheon.

“I want to thank everybody for their years of service and pass on the board’s gratitude for the work that you do,” said Jeff Dontz, chair of the Manistee County Board of Commissioners.

This year, nine employees/officials reached 10 years of service; four reached 15; two hit 20; and one reached 35. Manistee County also saw three longtime employees retire in 2017.

Those recognized were:

10 Years

• Thomas Brunner (Judge, 85th District Court/Probate Court)

• Karen Feliczak (Deputy Court Administrator, 19th Judicial Circuit Court)

• Brandon Gillispie (Deputy, Sheriff’s Office)

• Brian Gutowski (Lt./Emergency Management Coordinator, Sheriff’s Office)

• Jason Haag (Prosecuting Attorney, Prosecutor’s Office)

• Patricia Heins (Court Administrator, 19th Judicial Circuit Court)

• Rachel Nelson (Finance Assistant, Controller’s Office)

• Deidre Robison (Probate Register, Probate Court)

• Marilyn Wrzesinski (Register of Deeds, Register of Deeds Office)

15 Years

• Mindy Dalke (Chief Deputy, County Treasurer’s Office)

• Candy Dancz (Deputy, County Treasurer’s Office)

• Ella Gannon (Corrections Officer, Sheriff’s Office)

• Holly Garber (Deputy Clerk, County Clerk’s Office)

20 Years

• Russell Pomeroy (County Treasurer, County Treasurer’s Office)

• Jeri Lyn Simon (Administrative Support Supervisor, Sheriff’s Office)

35 Years

• Pamela Spoor (Head of Reference, Manistee County Library)

Manistee County also saw six longtime employees retire in 2017. They were recognized and awarded for their careers this week as well.

Retirees

• Kerry Merkey retired on Jan. 31 from the Manistee County Friend of the Court as a MI Child Support Enforcement Specialist and Administrative Secretary. She had 34 years and one month of service.

• Lori Kolanowski retired on Aug. 7 from the Manistee County Register of Deeds as the Chief Deputy Register of Deeds. She had 22 years and 11 months of service.

• Lynn Jensen retired on Sept. 1 from Manistee County Equalization as the Property Description Specialist and GIS Technician. She had 11 years of service.

• Charles Haemker retired on Sept. 30 from the Manistee County Library as the Executive Director. He had 10 years and nine months of service.

• Julie Zajac retired on Oct. 24 from Manistee County 911/Central Dispatch as a Dispatcher. She had 25 years and five months of service.

• Steve Shively retired on Nov. 18 from the Manistee County Maintenance Office as a Maintenance Custodian. He had 20 years and three months of service.
