Hearts to Haiti reception at LACA

LUDINGTON — The Ludington Area Center for the Arts will host an artist reception from 5-7 p.m. on Jan. 5 for the center’s current Haitian art exhibit “Hearts to Haiti.”

The reception, which is free and open to the public, will take place in the center’s Performance Hall Lobby Gallery and will celebrate artwork created by residents of Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Port-au-Prince is home to the School of the Infant Jesus, the twinning school for Ludington’s St. Simon Catholic Parish. Through St. Simon’s Hearts to Haiti ministry the parish manages fundraising possibilities for the Haitian school while experiencing the joy of giving.

The exhibit features paintings, hand crafted and painted wooden containers and metal artwork and sculptures. All items are for sale.

The Hearts to Haiti reception will take place in conjunction with Downtown Ludington’s First Friday Art Walk. Refreshments will be served.

The Ludington Area Center for the Arts is located at 107 S. Harrison St., downtown Ludington. The arts center is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 3 p.m. For more information, e-mail info@ludingtonartscenter.org or call (231) 845-2787.
