Narcotics investigation leads to arrest in Cadillac

CADILLAC — Detectives from the Traverse Narcotics Team (TNT) received information that subjects from Grand Rapids were transporting illegal narcotics to Wexford County to sell.

The investigation led detectives from TNT and the Michigan State Police to confirm that the suspects had heroin and crystal meth in their possession, and did deliver and sell drugs in Haring Township of Cadillac on Jan. 8.

The two 34 year old suspects from Grand Rapids were identified as Jason Matthews, known on the streets as “J,” and David Dawe, known on the streets as “D”.

Matthews and Dawe were arrested and arraigned in the 84th District court in Cadillac for controlled substance-delivery of heroin, conspiracy to deliver heroin, controlled substance-delivery of crystal meth, and conspiracy to deliver crystal meth.

In addition, Matthews was charged with Possession of Marijuana.

Matthews and Dawe were each given a $500,000 cash bond at their arraignment.

TNT is an eight-county multi-jurisdictional investigative team under the direction of the Michigan State Police, and is also comprised of officers from various law enforcement agencies in Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Benzie, Kalkaska, Antrim, Missaukee, Osceola and Wexford County Sheriff’s Departments along with the Traverse City and Elk Rapids Police Departments.
