Blizzard comes on heels of mild weather

Manistee today was held tightly in the grip of the worst storm of the winter as a lashing gale drove a heavy snow in drifts which virtually paralyzed traffic. During the night and early morning the city was crippled by power failure as the wind and snow snapped electric lines. The fury of the blizzard last night was given an eerie touch by occasional glares of greenish light that flashed in street lights, reflecting the driving snow. The year’s worst storm followed a mild weather Monday when rain fell most of the day. The thermometer started it’s downward course about 8 p.m.
