Visual arts critique group exhibit underway at LACA

LUDINGTON — Works of art from a dozen Ludington area artists will be on display through the month of March in the Ludington Area Center for the Arts (LACA) Main Gallery. Artists from LACA’s Visual Arts Critique Group are exhibiting some of their finest collages, paintings, pastels and photography.

An artist reception from 5-7 p.m. on Feb. 2 during Downtown Ludington’s First Friday Art Walk will allow area residents a chance to view the new exhibit as well as mingle with the artists.

Exhibiting artists include: Kathy Barrett, acrylic series of street musicians; Lynda Blankinship, acrylic colorist whose paintings celebrate womenhood; Laura Carter, crisp acrylics of everyday life; Paula DeGregorio, pastels of natural colors featuring skies and still life; Frank Galante, crisp pastel still lifes reminiscent of Wyeth; Lynn Haslam, miniature landscapes of subtle color; Tom Kleinfeldt, abstract acrylics, landscapes and aluminum foil compositions; Ellen Niemann, exotic watercolor/pastels of African children; Judy Peters, watercolors and mixed media featuring Michigan woodlands and Lake Michigan; Marion Riedl, tranquil mixed media (collage and acrylic) landscapes and acrylic paintings; Linda Sandow, acrylics and collages of colorful styleized flowers; and Andrew Skinner, playful juxtaposition of photographic images.

The Visual Arts Critique Group exhibit will be on display during LACA’s normal business hours, Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday noon to 3 p.m. through March 31.
