Training helps those with disabilities become ‘stronger self advocates’

MANISTEE — The Self-Advocates of Michigan is hosting a free training for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) on How to Become a Stronger Self Advocate next week.

The event will take place from 1-3 p.m. on Feb. 16 at the Manistee Library.

The Self-Advocates of Michigan (SAM) is organized by people with I/DD who are leaders in the community and are committed to helping others become strong self-advocates and live a life of personal choice and inclusion. The training will focus on what it takes to be an advocate as well as information on the SAM/Michigan Developmental Disabilities Council’s Legislative Day Event on March 6 in Lansing.
