Filer considers millage for pool

The Filer Township Board of Trustees made a motion at a recent regular meeting to a place a millage request on the ballot for the August primary election to renovate the Filer City swimming pool.

40 YEARS AGO

Schools begin “goals” survey week

A program designed to determine what the general public thinks of the educational goals of the Manistee Public School District and how well the district is achieving those goals begins this week, according to Thomas Culbert, school superintendent. More than 3,500 persons will be asked to complete the questionnaire being sent to 40 percent of the registered voters of each voting district. Senior class members and the entire faculty of the school district will also be surveyed.

Tape deck taken

City police report that a stereo tape players was stolen from a car belonging to a Manistee High Schools student while his car was parked near Manistee High School about 10:15 p.m. Saturday.

60 YEARS AGO

Valentine Dance in Arcadia

A Valentine dance is being held on February 14 at the Arcadia High School gym. Music is by Claude Gilbert’s Rhythm Pals and the dance is semi-formal. Time is 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. and the price is $1.25 per couple and 75 cents single. A queen will be crowned during the evening.
