MANISTEE — Disabled American Veterans, Salt City Chapter No. 43 was awarded a plaque by DAV National Headquarters for its 75 years of service to veterans.

To celebrate, the group held a dinner for DAV Chapter members and spouses on Feb. 18 at the Little River Casino Resort.

The chapter was chartered in Manistee on Feb. 14, 1942. Original charter members were World War I veterans. The DAV provides support and advocacy for disabled and combat wounded veterans and their families.

DAV Chapter No. 43 meetings are at 7:30 p.m. the first Tuesday of every month at the VFW Post No. 4499, located at 1211 28th St. in Manistee.
