‘Chaotic Mike’s’ visual explosion March 1-April 30 at LACA

LUDINGTON – The Ludington Area Center for the Arts will host “Visual Explosion” an exhibit by area artist Mike Coleman, “Chaotic Mike,” from March 1 to April 1, located in the center’s Performance Hall Gallery.

LACA will also host an artist reception for Coleman Friday evening, March 2 from 5-7 p.m.

Coleman, who started drawing, coloring and illustrating at a very young age, is originally from the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, Ill. moved to Ludington in the summer of 2012 when he first took to painting and pursuing status of professional artist.

“The styles of art I enjoy the most are along the lines of urban graffiti, Andy Warhol and abstract paintings such as Jackson Pollock,” Coleman says. Coleman’s current work is primarily in acrylic paints, although he also dabbles with oils as well.

“My artwork is my outlet for stress and anxiety, I enjoy experimenting with paint along with other mediums to express myself and bring fulfilment into my life,” Coleman said. Adding that he does some sort of artwork every day.

Coleman has been featured in four different galleries in Michigan and continues to exhibit at art fairs as his schedule allows.

“I believe fine art should be accessible to everyone. My goal is to provide inspiration for everyone through my art,” Coleman said.

Coleman says his goal for 2018 is to enter Artprize in Grand Rapids.
