Cadillac man arrested for resisting, obstructing an officer

CADILLAC — A Cadillac man was taken into custody after resisting and obstructing an officer on Saturday in Wexford County.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Cadillac Post were on patrol in Cadillac, when they observed a vehicle with equipment violations and no registration plate.

Troopers attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle took-off at a high rate of speed. Troopers activated the emergency overhead lights and caught up to the vehicle; the driver stopped and fled on foot.

After a short chase, the driver was taken into custody.

The 26-year-old Cadillac man was charged with resisting and obstructing a police officer; driving while license suspended, second offense; fail to yield to an emergency responder; operating an unregistered vehicle; and operating without security.

He was lodged in the Wexford County Jail, and is pending arraignment in Cadillac’s 84th District Court.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Cadillac Police Department.
