Farr Friends to host author Denny Blue on Thursday

ONEKAMA — Dennis Blue, 84-year-old author, recently published his memoir entitled, “Running the Good Race, A Story of Faith, Ford and Fishing,” recounting his life as a corporate executive, missionary pilot and fisherman.

Whether you are a person of faith, a corporate employee, or someone who is looking to change careers or find a career after retirement, there are moments when you need some guidance in finding your purpose. Blue offers some valuable insights learned along the way in “Running the Good Race, A Story of Faith, Ford and Fishing,” published by True Blue Publisher.

Blue will bring books for sale and sign books at the program. A special price for the paperback book at the Farr Friends program on Thursday will be $15 for those who attend.

Blue shares his story of how God placed His hand on a young farm boy and guided him throughout his life; how he endured the tragic loss of his wife’s parents in a plane crash, flew as a missionary pilot in the Amazon, discovered a stone age tribe, negotiated a peaceful outcome to a violent labor strike in Venezuela, assisted in the establishment of Ford Motor Company operations in South America and the Asia Pacific region and worked at senior executive level to help change the direction of the Ford Motor Company.

Blue graduated from Michigan State University in 1957 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. There ensued a 30-year career with Ford Motor Company, 14 of which were served in Venezuela, Australia, New Zealand and Brazil with his wife and two children. Immediately following his retirement from Ford in 1988, Mr. Blue began his own charter fishing business, guiding fishing expeditions throughout the United States, and Central and South America. Blue is currently working on a second memoir, covering his 28-year career as a professional charter captain, due out the summer of 2018.
