Area students celebrate their artwork

SCOTTVILLE — As part of West Shore Community College’s Regional High School Art Exhibition, participating students and their teachers were invited to the campus to celebrate their artistic accomplishments.

Students were asked to compose an artist’s statement to deliver to teachers and fellow artists Friday morning (March 16) in front of their work currently on display in the Manierre Dawson Gallery.

“This unique experience allowed art students an opportunity to meet and share ideas with others from area high schools. They were also able to spend part of the morning working collaboratively on drawing with WSCC drawing and painting instructor, Michele Anscombe,” said Professor Rebecca Mott, who has for the last 20 years organized and curated the exhibit.

The 20th Annual Regional High School Art Exhibition closes on March 23. The gallery is located in the Arts & Sciences Center and is open from 9 – 4:30 p.m.  this week.
