“It’s been a really good event for the community, and we love doing putting it on for the kids because it’s just a blast to see how much they enjoy it,” said Kenny Kott, secretary/historian of the Manistee Jaycees. “We utilize almost the entire playground area for the hunt; there will literally be thousands of eggs for kids to pick up.”

Kott said about 15 sponsors have donated prizes, candy or both for the free event.

“We focus a lot on young professionals, young adults, but this is one program we love doing for the kids,” he said. “Easter is a fun time of year, because everybody seems ready for spring to start, and this is a good way to kick it off with a fun event.”
