Manistee High earns high honor

North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, NCA, has awarded Manistee High School top school improvement honors this month. NCA is the largest of the six regional accrediting associations that monitor the United States’ schools internationally. Manistee High School was one of 34 Michigan schools honored for completing a five-year eight-phase school improvement process.


Onekama school vote Monday

Voters in the Onekama School District go to the polls Monday determine if the district’s property taxes should be increased by three mills for operation of the schools for one year.

Mackey accepts Ford Motor Co. post

Mr. and Mrs. Don Mackey spent several days last week visiting Don’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Anderson prior to sailing from New York April 23 on the S.S. Argentina for Sao Paulo, Brazil. Don is with Ford Motor Co. International Division, Assistant Manager of Plant Engineering and expects to work in Sao Paulo for 30 months. En route to Brazil they expect to stop at Trinidad and Rio de Janeiro.


State police arrest 23

Twenty three arrests were made by local state police during the month of March, according to the regular period report submitted today. Arrests were made on the following charges: assault and battery, drunk driving, forgery, fugitives, violation of game laws, insanity, and petit larceny.

Spring vacation

Students in the public schools will receive one week for spring vacation this year, classes being dismissed tomorrow to be resumed on April 18.
