DDA to hold hearing on budget

MANISTEE — The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has a full agenda Wednesday, starting with a hearing on the final 2018-19 fiscal year budget, which was approved by City Council last month.

Before it can be adopted by the DDA, the public has a chance to make any final comments. The proposed budget was presented and approved by DDA board members at the April meeting.

However, after City Council made its final approval, the DDA is required to adopt the budget. The budget totals $262,667.

Also on the agenda, the DDA will review a draft of the TIF plan. The TIF Committee drafted the Development Plan and Tax Increment Financing Plan, sending it to the DDA to be approved.

After it’s approved with any changes, the draft has yet to be discussed between the city and DDA, reviewing certain priorities. However, it would still be a draft after discussion, as it may change before the final version is approved by both parties.

The DDA will also discuss garbage removal on River Street, as many complaints have been filed by downtown businesses owners. The Design Committee has recommended trash pick-up be changed to Tuesday and Friday mornings.

The meeting will be held at noon on Wednesday in the council chambers at City Hall in Manistee.
