UPDATED: Police say missing juvenile found safe



BRETHREN  — Police called off the search for a runaway/missing juvenile on Wednesday night.

Cheyann Paynter, 15, went missing around 4 p.m. on Tuesday and was last seen in the Brethren area. Manistee County Sheriff’s Office deputies say she wrote a letter, which indicated she was a voluntary missing person.

Paynter was riding a grey bike, and was said to be possibly headed to California. The sheriff’s office declared her safe around 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday night.

She was found on Dilling Road in Dickson Township, a press release from the sheriff’s office stated. Police say she is now safe, and was reunited with her family.

BRETHREN — Authorities with the Manistee County Sheriff’s Office are searching for a voluntary missing juvenile.

Cheyann Paynter, 15, was last seen around 4 p.m. on Tuesday in the Brethren area.

Police say she was riding a 10 speed bike, which was grey and had white lettering on it — possibly the brand name Huffy. She was wearing blue jean shorts, and a white and black tank top. She has brown hair that’s tinted in a purple hue, and brown eyes; she is 5 foot 5 inches and 175 pounds.

A press release from the sheriff’s office says she left a letter, indicating it was a voluntary missing person case. Reports indicate she could be headed to California.

The sheriff’s office asks anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact a local police agency, call 911 or the sheriff’s office at (231) 723-8393.
