Arrest made in suspected heroin overdose in Benzie County

FRANKFORT — A Frankfort resident was arrested after an apparent heroin overdose sent another man to the hospital on Monday.

The Benzie County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Traverse Narcotics Team, received a call regarding a 22-year-old male unresponsive from an apparent overdoes of suspected heroin. The subject was sent to the intensive care unit at Munson Hospital.

During the investigation, TNT detectives, along with the Benzie County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant on a Forrester Road residence in Frankfort. During the search warrant, TNT detectives located suspected heroine, needles, drug paraphernalia and firearms.

Justin Scott-Wallace Rice, 27, of Frankfort, was arrested and lodged at the Benzie County Jail on charges of felony controlled substance-possession/analogues and maintaining a drug house. The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.

Rice has posted bond.

TNT was assisted by the Benzie County Sheriff and their K-9 along with the Michigan State Police.
