Sidewalk sales, TGIF Manistee keeps River Street bustling

MANISTEE — River Street was flowing with activity on Friday, from sun rise to sun set.

The line was long at the bull ride during the TGIF celebration on Friday evening. River Street was filled with people enjoying the fun activities.

During the day, many downtown businesses held sidewalk sales that drew steady of foot traffic. And when the evening hit, Manistee’s Downtown Development Authority’s popular TGIF Manistee event returned, featuring family friendly activities from face painting, live music, food trucks, kids games, farmer’s market vendors and more.

Tyler Leppanen, DDA executive director, said the event is a way of offering visitors and local residents an opportunity to enjoy all the downtown area has to offer.

“There’s something for everyone this weekend,” Leppanen said. “You can find a good deal while you’re out shopping, enjoy a free family friendly event in the evening, and some wine tasting and music on Saturday. We’re happy to be able to provide these
