Project Read to hold tutor orientation and training

MANISTEE — Those who have ever considered volunteering as a tutor will not want to miss an upcoming opportunity presented by Project Read.

Project Read — a free literacy tutoring services to adult learners in Manistee and Benzie counties — will be hosting an orientation from 5-7:30 p.m. on Sept. 7 and tutor training from 10a a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 8 at the Manistee Municipal Marina, located at 480 River St. in Manistee.

Project Read coordinator Sue Wilson will be presenting the Sept. 7 orientation and Barb Derby, director of the Adult Literacy Council of Cadillac, will be the training instructor on Sept. 8.

The training is free to anyone interested in becoming a tutor, or current tutors, who want to refresh their training. Those who have questions, or are interested in taking part in the orientation and training, should call the United Way office at (231) 723-2331.

Project Read is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit under the United Way of Manistee County.
