Near and Farr Friends to play Qwirkle on Thursday

ONEKAMA — Near and Farr Friends will be playing Quirkle at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Farr Center in Onekama.

Qwirkle is a game of matching colors and shapes that requires tactical maneuvers, quick-thinking and a well-planned strategy. Players of the game score points by building rows and columns of brightly-colored tiles that are either all the same color or all the same shape, without creating duplicates.

Players look for opportunities to score by placing a tile that touches multiple pieces with matching attributes. If you create a line of all six in a row, you score a “Qwirkle”. The player with the most points when the tiles run out wins!

Qwirkle combines the game play of Dominoes and Scrabble and is the perfect combination of skill and chance. It is distributed in Canada by game and puzzle company, Outset Media. Qwirkle is considered by MindWare to be its most awarded game of all time.

If you own a Qwirkle game, bring it. Play usually works best with 4 to 6 people per game set. This is a good chance to meet new people and have fun at the same time.

Near and Farr Friends meet at the Onekama Township Hall at 2:30pm on Thursdays through the end of May, and start again in September. Onekama Township Hall is located at 5435 Main St. (M-22). There is no charge to attend the presentation.
