DNR reminds hunters of opportunities to get outdoors

MICHIGAN — Hunting and trapping opportunities continue throughout Michigan.

Small game hunting

• Cottontail rabbit and snowshoe hare hunting is open statewide through March 31.

• Squirrel hunting, for both fox and gray squirrels, is open statewide through March 31.

• Crow hunting is open statewide Feb. 1 through March 31.

Waterfowl hunting

• Allegan County Goose Management Unit (GMU): Dark and light goose season is open through Feb. 14.

• The Fennville Farm Unit of the Allegan State Game Area is closed to goose hunting on Mondays and Wednesdays during the GMU season.

Furbearer hunting and trapping

• Coyote, gray and red fox, muskrat and mink trapping seasons are open through March 1 statewide.

• Raccoon trapping season is open through March 31 statewide.

• Coyote hunting season is open year-round, and fox (gray and red) hunting is open through March 1 statewide.

• Beaver and otter trapping seasons vary based on unit and your residency status. See page 30 of the Fur Harvester Digest.

• Bobcat hunting season in Units A, B and C is open through March 1. Please note: bobcat kill tags had to be obtained prior to Nov. 30, 2018, in order to hunt or trap for the 2018/2019 season. See pages 28-29 of the Fur Harvester Digest for bobcat harvest regulations.

• Badger trapping season is open to Michigan residents in Zone 3 through March 1. The limit is one per resident fur harvester.
