MANISTEE — The City of Manistee is starting its Municipal Marina dock repairs this week, while crews are already prepping materials.

The docks were damaged in the April 13, 2018, seiche event that struck Manistee in a whirlwind storm. However, repairs were put on hold while the city assessed the damage, and communicated with its insurance company.

Jeff Mikula, Department of Public Works director, said a construction contract was awarded to Fisher Contracting at $635,400. The docks should be finished by May 15, for the boating season. All expenses are funded by insurance proceeds.
