Traffic stop leads to meth arrest in Manistee County

FREDENBURG

SPRINGDLE TOWNSHIP — Police say a traffic stop on 13 Mile Road near Big Four Road in Manistee County on Friday led to the arrest of a 53-year-old woman for the possession of meth.

Around 2 a.m., troopers stopped a vehicle for defective equipment. Upon contacting the 25-year-old male driver of Traverse City, troopers learned that the vehicle was not insured.

Further roadside investigation resulted in a search of the vehicle and a female passenger. During the search, a crystalline substance believed to be meth was found in woman’s purse.

Rae Fredenburg, of Traverse City, was arrested and lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail. The driver was cited for the insurance violation and released at the scene.

The case was sent to the Manistee County Prosecutor’s Office for review. The prosecutor issued a felony warrant charging Fredenburg with possession of meth – second or subsequent offense. She was arraigned in the 85th District Court, where a $15,000 bond was assessed.
