Mark and Deborah Harris, of Wellston, testified in Mason County’s 51st Circuit Court on Friday that they have been friends with accused trooper shooter Eric Knysz for several years. On the night of the shooting, both testified that Knysz came to their house and confessed to the murder.
Michigan State Police trooper Jeffrey Crofoot testified in the Eric Knysz trial about the night of Sept. 9, 2013 and his arrest of Eric Knysz in Dublin. Knysz is accused of shooting MSP trooper Paul Butterfield during a traffic stop that day on Custer Road in Mason County.

The sixth annual Frostbite Saturday brought hundreds of people to downtown Manistee to enjoy chili samples, music and camaraderie. The event was dubbed a success by organizers who counted more than 200 ballots for the town’s best chili.
