FRANKFORT’S 2014 ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION will take place at 9 a.m., Friday, at Frankfort Elementary School, 613 Leelanau in Frankfort. The students will gather to plant a tree in the schoolyard, and each student will receive a White Spruce seedling. The public is welcome to attend the Arbor Day ceremony and to observe the planting of this year’s tree.

BENZIE SHORES DISTRICT LIBRARY will have NO PUBLIC COMPUTERS available Friday. Wi-Fi access may also be temporarily disrupted. New computers are being installed as well as a new wireless hotspot. SPRING FLING DANCE, will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, at St. Rita/St. Joseph Hall, 1/4 mile south of Maple City. Box On, the Rick Vinecki Family Band from Interlochen, will be performing.  Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

WILD ROSE CONCERT SERIES 2013-2014 presents Jennifer Trowbridge, guitar and Michael Coonrod, piano at 3 p.m., Sunday at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 785 Beulah Highway in Beulah. The concert funds music scholarships for Benzie students. 

 CITY CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL 2014 will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m., Sunday at the City Opera House on Front Street in Traverse City. Confectionery artist Tess Nottke will create a Cinderella coach and other chocolate sculptures. Other highlights include live music, demonstrations, mini lectures and door prizes. FRANKFORT COMMUNITY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION will be collecting donations each month for Benzie Area Christian neighbors.  A collection box is located in the credit union lobby at 921 Forest Ave. in Frankfort.  For the month of April: Dry pantry items: boxed meals, pasta, cereal, powdered milk, soup mix, flour, sugar, salt, etc.

FRESH WIND FRESH START JAIL After Care will meet from 7  to 8:30 p.m. Fridays. This is a self-directed, but structured group that provides fellowship for men and women who struggle with the sometimes overwhelming challenges of everyday living upon release.
