Raid Leads to Discovery of Illegal Gambling, Drugs, Guns

A drug raid on Wednesday lead to the discovery of illegal gambling, as well as the seizure of firearms and illegal drugs, according to Kalamazoo Public Safety.

The raid came after a complaint tipped off Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team to drug dealing an illegal gambling happening at the residence, located in the 800 block of Ampersee, Kalamazoo. After an investigation, KVET and SWAT executed a search warrant at the residence.

During the raid, 13 people were found inside gambling illegally. In addition, police found packaged marijuana, crack cocaine, electronic scales, packaging equipment, gambling equipment and money from drug sales and gambling.

A second related location was identified in the 13000 block of Krom Street where another search warrant was executed. During the search, police found two handguns, one of which was stolen, more marijuana packaging materials, electronic scales and money thought to be proceeds from drug sales.

Several subjects were arrested on outstanding warrants and additional charges including weapons offenses, drug trafficking, and gambling offenses will be sought, as the investigation is still ongoing.
