Hardaway Jr. leads Michigan past Wisconsin

ANN ARBOR — Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 17 points abd grabbed 10 rebounds, while Trey Burke added 14 to lead Michigan past Wisconsin Sunday 59-41.

Jordan Taylor scored 12 points to lead Wisconsin.

Michigan led 25-19 at halftime.

Hardaway’s two free throws gave Michigan a 10-2 lead in the early going. The Badgers reeled off 10 straight points including the go-ahead layup by Jordan Taylor, within two minutes to take the lead and the battle was on.

Evan Smotrycz’s 3-pointer with six minutes to play gave Michigan a 19-14 advantage. Burke scored minutes later for a 23-16 lead.

Jordan Morgan’s putback with 15:31 to play in the game made it 32-19, Wolverines. Morgan led Michigan with 11 rebounds in the win.

Hardaway made a spin move inside for a basket and 38-26 lead with 11:03 to play. Burke followed moments later with a basket and 40-26 lead. He added a 3-point play moments later for a 43-26 lead.

Hardaway’s two free throws at 3:05 made it 53-38.

Michigan improves to 13-3 overall and 3-1 in the Big Ten.

The Wolverines had a seven-game win streak snapped on Thursday in a 73-71 loss to Indiana. Michigan is home Wednesday against Northwestern.

The Badgers are 13-4 overall and have a 1-2 Big Ten record. They have lost three straight.
