One-act plays presented during Artworks theater series

BIG RAPIDS — The lights were low and props were set as nearly 50 people enjoyed seven short, one-act plays during opening night of Artworks’ Intimate Theater series.

The series continues with repeat performances at 7 p.m. today and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Artworks. Tickets are available at Artworks, and are $8 in advance or $10 at the door.

The following plays will be performed:

  • “The O’s,” performed by Jim Samuels;
  • “Chocolate Affair” and “Family Secrets,” performed by Sheryldeen Feyer Abend, Raquel Jackmond and Rod Oden;
  • THE CANDY MAN: Actor Rod Oden plays the character Mr. Goodbar in the play “The Chocolate Affair.” The play was performed on Thursday evening in the basement of Artworks as part of the Intimate Theater series. Performances are scheduled through Sunday.

    “Family Secrets,” performed by Raquel Jackmond, Robert Dockham and Sara Rea;

  • “This Was Our Music,” performed by Katie Blackburn and Jim Samuels;
  • “Perilous Indeed,” performed by Jim Hively;
  • “What Does It Matter?” performed by Rod Oden, Andrew Sackett and Wendy Samuels; and
  • “The Wedding Play,” featuring Marian Sakalauskas and Jamie Samuels.

Schuberg’s Bar and Grill, the Blue Cow Cafe and Pizzeria Vivo’s will offer dinner specials to ticket holders.
