CHUCK AND KAY AUCHTERHOF: It’s time for a leadership change in Big Rapids Township

TO THE EDITOR:

Scenario: We have two painters each painting the same size room. Ray takes one day; Ed takes three days. Does this make Ed better for the job?

Scenario: Secretary Carla and Secretary Zoey are asked to enter the same data into a computer program. Both Carla and Zoey take two hours to enter the data, but Zoey also does some personal Google searching and Internet buying and is at the computer for three more hours. Because Zoey was at her computer longer, can she brag that she puts longer hours in?

Big Rapids Charter Township’s current supervisor claims to put in many hours at the township office. Many have heard her say that she is at the township hall nights and weekends. But being at the hall does not necessarily mean she is working on township business. Also, because ones car is parked in front of the hall does not mean the person is actually inside working.

If she still has to put in “so many more hours” even after her assessing duties are now contracted out, one has to wonder how efficient her “working” is. Just how many more times are we going to hear “I didn’t have time.” from her at a township board meeting?

It’s time for a supervisor who knows how to manage the workload efficiently to get things done in a timely manner for our township!

Vote for Bill Stanek.
