FESTIVAL OF TREES: About 200 people typically attend the annual Festival of Trees, a fundraiser for MCMC Foundation that auctions holiday decor.

BIG RAPIDS – Tinsel, bells and twinkling lights adorning 48 Christmas trees, wreaths and other seasonal decorations gave everyone at the Festival of Trees on Wednesday an early dose of holiday spirit.

The ninth annual event raises $18,000 to $25,000 each year for the Mecosta County Medical Foundation, which will use the funds for needs in Rehabilitation, Surgical Services, Emergency, Cardiopulmonary Rehab, Birthing Center, Medical Imaging and Home Health Care departments at MCMC.

Donors purchase wreaths and trees, and designers decorate them. The decorated trees then are auctioned off at the festival.

Currie-Parker Auction Services, Meijer, Ferris State University Catering, Chemical Bank and Gary Trimarco Automotive sponsored this year’s event. Joyce Davenport and Gail Wyatt chaired the Festival of Trees organizing committee.
