Man charged in taxi murder

DETROIT — A Detroit man has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a taxi cab driver earlier this month, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office announced Thursday.

Jerrel Files, 21, has been charged with first-degree murder, felony murder, assault with intent to rob while armed, felon in possession of a firearm and felony firearm in the death of 42-year-old Michael Uche of Detroit, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Files is expected to be arraigned this week, according to the prosecutor’s office.

The prosecutor’s office says Files is accused of shooting Uche in the head at about 6:30 a.m. Saturday in front of a home in the 20500 block of Goulburn.
