Man driving drunk with 6-year-old son in car

TROY — Troy Police arrested a parent accused of driving drunk with his 6-year-old in the car on Sunday.

A concerned motorist called police at 9:10 p.m. to report a suspected drunk driver exiting I-75 at 14 Mile Road, according to a report released Tuesday by Troy Police. When officers pulled over the car, they discovered a 44-year-old Clawson man driving with his son sitting in the front seat.

The man had a 0.16 percent blood-alcohol level. Michigan law classifies drunken driving as above a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 percent.

Police cited the man for drunken driving and child endangerment, according to the report. The boy was turned over to his mother.

Earlier this month, police in Lake Orion arrested a 47-year-old Orion Township woman found driving with a 0.36 percent blood-alcohol level and her 9-year-old son in the back seat.
