Lake County boys drown in pond on family farm

LAKE COUNTY — The drowning of two boys, 7 and 9 years old has been ruled accidental, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Undersheriff Dennis Robinson said Jethro Troyer, 9, and Leander Troyer, 7, of Lake County, drowned Thursday afternoon, in a pond on their farm in Lake Township.

The boys were playing in the backyard and apparently went into the pond at some point. According to Robinson, the father went looking for the boys when he noticed a tube in the pond. The father then searched the pond and found the boys.

Deputies and rescue crews were called to the home around 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening were and were unable to revive them.
