Man accused of posing as officer held on $1-million bond

CLINTON TWP. — A Clinton Township man, accused of impersonating a police officer then assaulting a woman inside her apartment, is being held on a $1-million bond.

Theron Lambert, 39, has a preliminary hearing Sept. 30 in 41B District Court in Clinton Township. He is charged with criminal sexual conduct, assault, home invasion and resisting/obstructing an officer, according to the court.

He is accused of assaulting the 33-year-old woman after she answered her door at Green Valley Apartments at Hayes and Canal late Sunday night. She was recovering at a local hospital after she was severely beaten in the face.

She opened the door after Lambert knocked on it and said he was a township police officer, according to police Capt. Richard Maierle. A neighbor heard her screaming for help and called police. Lambert took off with officers in pursuit, but was caught.
