Spectrum Big Rapids hosts drive to get rid of old drugs

BIG RAPIDS — A Friday event is aimed at getting rid of unused, unwanted or expired drugs.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday at Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital, located at 605 Oak St., a Yellow Jug Old Drugs medication drive will take place.

The Yellow Jug Old Drugs program is a statewide initiative to properly dispose of old drugs to keep chemicals out of Michigan water.

However, some medicines are not accepted, including Coumadin (Warfarin), Dilantin (Phenytoin), meter-dosed inhalers and treatments.

Pet medication also is accepted, with the exception of flea and tick preventative treatments.
