Woman, 79, dies after being struck by two vehicles in Rochester Hills

OAKLAND COUNTY — The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 79-year-old woman who was struck by two vehicles Saturday in Rochester Hills.

The woman was in the roadway at the time, but it’s unclear why, authorities said.

It happened just before 8:30 p.m. on Auburn Road near Longview Avenue. The woman, who lived in Rochester Hills, was first struck by a 2001 GMC Sonoma pick-up truck that was heading west on Auburn Road. Then, an eastbound 2001 GMC Denali hit her.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities did not release her name.

Neither driver was injured, and both appeared to be wearing seat belts. A 58-year-old Shelby Township resident was behind the wheel of the Sonoma, and a 59-year-old Troy resident was driving the Denali.

Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
