Hersey church provides free Easter meal

HERSEY — Members of Hersey United Methodist Church want to share the joy of Jesus’ resurrection with the community by offering a free meal for the public.

This is the second year the church has hosted the event, and organizer Lisa Beilfuss believes the dinner is an uplifting experience.

“It’s a means of providing people that might not have family here with a family atmosphere,” she said. “We wanted it to be just a service for them, a ministry to reach out to the community where they don’t have to pay.”

Dinner will be served from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 20, at the church, 200 W. 2nd St. Food choices including ham, cheesy potatoes, bread rolls from H&D Chuckwagon, vegetables, salad, desserts and beverages will be available for adults and children of all ages.

At last year’s event, Beilfuss saw fellowship form between strangers and a lasting joy that spilled from the Easter service into meal time.

“It’s a real open, friendly atmosphere,” Beilfuss said. “I really want to continue that – everyone having a good time and seeing people smile.”
