Barryton Lilac Festival this weekend

BARRYTON — The Village of Barryton’s annual Lilac Festival is expected to be fun for all ages this weekend.

The three-day festival will start on Friday, May 16, and will offer fun activities through Sunday, May 18. The majority of the festival will be held in Central Park, located in downtown Barryton.

Scheduled events include, a carnival, parade, car shows, flea market, chicken barbecue and much more.

Friday, May 16

  • 9 a.m. Flea market and gas/steam engine show open
  • 3 p.m. Carnival and pony rides
  • 4 p.m. Chicken barbecue starts serving at Fork Township Community Center
  • 6:30 p.m. Prince and Princess contest
  • 7 p.m. Talent show at park pavilion

Saturday, May 17

  • 8 a.m. Softball tournament at the Barryton elementary school ball field
  • 8 to 10 a.m. Pancake breakfast at the Barryton Senior Center
  • 9 a.m. — Flea market and gas/steam engine show open
  • 10 a.m. — Parade line up starts at Barryton elementary school
  • 10:30 a.m. — Parade judging takes place
  • 11 a.m. — Parade begins, and carnival and pony rides open, chicken barbecue starts serving at Fork Township Community Center
  • Noon — Car Show line up starts, silent auction begins
  • 1 p.m. — Village museum open
  • 2:30 p.m. — Car show judging begins
  • 4 p.m. — Kids’ fishing contest starts, museum closes for day
  • 5 p.m. — Silent auction bidding ends
  • 6 p.m. — Kids’ Fishing contest ends

Sunday, May 18

  • 9 a.m. — Flea market opens
  • 11 a.m. — Carnival and pony rides open
  • Noon museum opens
