BROWN: Guns in senior photos cross a line

In the May 23 special edition of the Pioneer honoring all area high school seniors, there were a few senior photographs of students who were pictured holding guns in their hands. I imagine that they would say that hunting has been their passion.

Weapons with school pictures seems inappropriate to me since we have witnessed so many tragedies involving weapons on school properties in this country. One would hope that students take graduation seriously, with dignity and with appreciation for their accomplishments and serious plans for higher education and careers.

The Crossroads Charter Academy photographs as well as the majority of the photographs were taken with the traditional and respectful style that celebrates educational accomplishments.

I was disappointed that the photos with guns were submitted or allowed in the celebration of graduation.
