BRHS Spanish courses celebrate ‘Day of the Dead’

sugar skulls ErinCELEBRATION: On Friday, Big Rapids High School students who take Kayla Cousineau’s Spanish classes learned about Day of the Dead, a Hispanic holiday celebrated from Oct. 31 through Nov. 2. The day honors loved ones who have died.

After learning about the holiday, students created their own sugar skulls using Rice Krispies Treats, frosting, M&Ms, Twizzlers and sprinkles. Sugar skulls are traditionally put on display at markets, in homes or at the graves of a loved ones. (Courtesy photo)
