Ferris winter concert to warm hearts and minds of attendees

BIG RAPIDS — Get out of the cold and have your mind and body warmed with the sweet sound of music.

The Ferris State University winter band and orchestra is hosting “A Winter Concert to Warm the Soul” at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22, at Williams Auditorium on the Ferris campus, as part of Festival of the Arts.

The Ferris band and orchestra will be conducted by Richard Scott Cohen, Ferris State University musical director and conductor. Jason DaDay, Ed Mallett and Noah Mallett are featured guests of the event.

The concert will feature remembrances of Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln and celebrations of Native American winter heritage.

DaDay, Ferris assistant director of admissions and public address announcer for Ferris hockey, will narrate the Gettysburg Address, and three generations of the Mallett family will play at the same time.
