POLICE BLOTTER: Man arrested for violation of Sex Offender Registration Act

BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids Department of Public Safety officers responded to the following calls on Tuesday and Wednesday. All calls might not be reported.


  • Police arrested a 24-year-old man on the 1800 block of Milton Avenue for violation of the Sex Offender Registry.
  • Police took a road rage complaint on the 700 block of South State Street. A Big Rapids man yelled at a Stanwood man about his driving.
  • Officers performed an area check on North State Street near Bellevue Street.
  • Police were called at 7:13 p.m. to the 1100 block of Fuller Avenue for a noise complaint. The tenant was cited and the landlord was notified.
  • Officers received a report of malicious destruction of property at 7:10 p.m. on the 100 block of South Michigan Avenue. A van had the back window busted out.
  • A man filed a larceny report against his fiancee at 10:54 p.m. The investigation is ongoing.


  • Officers performed an area check for a loose dog at 1:58 a.m. near the Baldwin Street Bridge. The dog was gone when police arrived.
  • Police were called to secure an open door at 3:12 a.m. on the 1300 block of North State Street. The service bay door had been left open.
