Gun club to host rimfire egg shoot this weekend

MECOSTA — The Mecosta County Rod and Gun Club will sponsor a .22-caliber rimfire egg shoot on Sunday, Aug. 16, with the range open at 10 a.m. for practice, with an 11 a.m. registration and the shoot begins at noon.

Only .22 short, long or long rifle chamberings are allowed. There will be two classes, factory (U.S. made) and open (any .22 custom or non-U.S. made rifle). Any forearm rest may be used and you cannot use a rest on the buttstock. Any power scope or sight may be used.

The rules will be posted at the club. The cost is $5 for 10 eggs. Prizes will be awarded for the highest scores. Food will be available at the range.
