REMUS — For more than 40 years, Nancy Yarrick was dedicated to students, staff and administrators at Chippewa Hills Schools District.

Her energetic personality, persistence and commitment kept not only the school board running smoothly, but many students and staff as well.

Yarrick, 69, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015. She will be remembered as a Warrior through and through.

“Nancy had a huge heart,” said Bob Grover, superintendent of CHSD. “She never let us forget why we are here.”

Yarrick began her career with Chippewa Hills in 1968 as a social studies teacher. Eventually she took the position of dean of students at the Chippewa Hills Intermediate School and most recently served as the board of education president.

During her time at CHSD, Yarrick also worked as the band treasurer, traveling with the students to events.

“Nancy liked to have fun,” Grover said. “But she was firm, fair and consistent, which are just a few of the many reasons why we loved her.”

Yarrick’s funeral will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at the Chippewa Hills Intermediate School gymnasium with Pastor Richard Taylor officiating. The family will greet friends at 1 p.m. until the service at the school.
