POLICE BLOTTER: Two cited for urinating in public early Friday morning

BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids Department of Public Safety officers responded to the following calls on Thursday and Friday. All calls might not be reported.


  • Officers received a personal property damage accident complaint at 9:46 a.m. on River Street near Locust Street.
  • Police assisted firefighters on the scene of a structure fire at 9:53 a.m. on the 200 block of Rose Avenue.
  • Officers were called to assist with a civil complaint at 5:17 p.m. on the 800 block of North State Street. An 18-year-old Cedar Springs man was kicked out of his girlfriend’s apartment. The man and his belongings were given a ride to DPS to wait for family to pick him up.


  • Officers cited a 21-year-old Lake Linden man for urinating in public at 1:08 a.m. on the 200 block of North Michigan Avenue.
  • Officers cited a 21-year-old Big Rapids woman for urinating in public at 1:58 a.m. on the 300 block of South Michigan Avenue.
