ZUKE: Will Big Rapids basketball shoot well enough to beat Essexville Garber in state quarters?

Despite beating Benzie Central and Sault Ste. Marie in the regional tournament, the Cardinals (22-2) uncharacteristically struggled shooting the ball both nights. They will need their top shooters to step up Tuesday against an Essexville Garber team which has won eight of its past nine games, including an upset victory over Alma on Wednesday. Alma, the only common opponent between the two teams this season, defeated Big Rapids 63-51 in early February.

Garber also will have a much shorter commute to Bay City Central than Big Rapids, but I think the Cardinals’ shooting improves enough to pull off a last-second victory.

PREDICTION: Big Rapids 65, Essexville Garber 64
