STAGE-M auditions tonight for children for ‘Mary Poppins’

BIG RAPIDS — Join STAGE-M and step into London circa 1910 by auditioning for the summer production of “Mary Poppins,” directed by Aaron Wilkinson.

Auditions will begin at 6 p.m. tonight, Monday, May 9, with opportunities for the two child leads, Jane and Michael Banks. The children auditioning must be 11 to 15 years old. This is the only time children may audition.

Auditions for actors 16 and older will begin at 7:30 p.m. the same night. The second night of auditions for actors 16 and up will be Tuesday, May 10, at 6 p.m. Callbacks will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 11.

Before their audition, all actors must learn the song, “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.” Sheet music and an audio file are available on the STAGE-M web site at stage-m.org/. Each actor will sing measures one through 36.

The song will not be taught the night of the audition. Actors must prepare ahead of time; they will be auditioning with the same track they will learning with.

Actors should also be prepared to learn a short dance sequence and perform it in small groups. Auditions will be held in the choir room of the United Church, located at 120 South State Street, Big Rapids.
